Observation date: August 25, 2022
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I realize this isn't supposed to be in this county/ area, as it's not listed in Bamona, but it doesn't look like the dotted or melissa blue, as its orange spots are only on the lower wing and it also has those distinct metallic blue dots

Coordinator notes: You are correct in your comments..."Acmon" Blues in our area are Plebejus lupini...aka called the "Lupine Blue" but this also incorrect. The Common name for lupini should be "Buckwheat Blue" since they do not feed on lupine and only buckwheats (Eriogonum) across the western U.S. This one is the prairie/lower foothills subspecies texanus that use Effused Buckwheat (E. effusum) as the hostplant ...small bushy reddish-stemmed plant with lots of small white flowers (looks kind of like baby-breath in flower arrangements).
