Large Hypenodes Moth
Hypenodes caducus

Observation date: August 15, 2022
Submitted by: dawittrock2231
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Near a floodlight on my deck. This is probably H. caducus, but it just seemed a little different to me from others I have seen. Check out H. palustris. I'm not entirely sure what "the dark PM band in caducus points directly to the FW apex, whereas in palustris it follows more parallel with the outer margin, curving toward the costa rather than going toward the apex" in BG means, given the pictures.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: My guess is that H. caducus is the most likely.
