Northwestern Fritillary
Speyeria hesperis

Observation date: August 13, 2022
Submitted by: DeepSkyKelly
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Maybe a long shot on this ID. It was a bit smaller than other Fritillaries out today. Blue-green eyes--so maybe it could be Northwestern? Postmedian upper wing spots look closer to Mormon, and veins are thin with very little black.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: yes, gray/blue eyes indicate Northwestern, and of course the Raton Mesa subspecies. terrific!
