Coordinator notes: White Checkered Skipper (Burnsius (was the genus Prygus) albescens is rare in Colorado, found only in hot lowlands and can be determined with certainty only by genitalic dissection. Both sexes of albescens do trend to be smaller in size but the Common varies in size as well. The two may actually be the same species with a variable form of genitalia, dependent upon the location (temperature and altitude). Mike
