Two-tailed Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudata

Observation date: July 22, 2022
Submitted by: RoxannaTessman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Unfortunately I only got this one pic before it flew off. Based on the comma-shaped markings at the top of each wing, is it a Two-tailed Tiger Swallowtail?!
Status: Resident

Verified date: July 22, 2022
Coordinator notes: Yes, its a male Two-Tailed Swallowtail with no tails! It can take years to get photos of a good one in great shape. I netted one 30 mi. SE of Mt. Shasta last July 2, 2022 and it was missing part of a hindwing. I admired him as the only multicaudata of the trip and then turned him loose. Good going!-Ken Davenport
