Observation notes: Flying about hose while I was watering some planters. Hosed the ground for him. I have a butterfly watering dish but the butterflies prefer the bricks and the pavement around the pool.

Coordinator notes: It's a tough call but from what I can see of the underside I think this is Polygonia comma, and not P. progne as you suggest. Both are found in your area.
