Our 2023 fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. Your support is vital to the project. Please make a recurring or one-time donation to sustain this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: This insect was immobile and kept its wings out flat for several minutes, never folding them over its back like butterflies often do. Its wingspan was about 1.5 inches. I don't know the plants it was on that are in the photo. It was in a narrow riparian area of Yellowdog Creek with nearby mature conifer forest at about 3,250 feet elevation. Weather - sunny, no wind, about 75 degrees F.
