Observation notes: One of two satyrs observed defending territory and displaying along the La Cueva Trail during the late morning timeframe. The site is on the footslope of the La Cueva Formation within the Organ Mountains. Satyrs fly low to the ground and make use of shady spots or dappled shade when encountered; they also typically flip their wings to a dorsal exposure only a few times. The late morning was hot, humid with light breeze and small gusts, and the area was partly cloudy.
