Two-tailed Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudata

Observation date: June 20, 2022
Submitted by: Janet Ruth
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I'm calling it a Two-tailed based on deeper yellow color but I continue to be a bit flumoxed about how long the second "tail" needs to be.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stevecary
Verified date: June 20, 2022
Coordinator notes: The tails are often damaged within a few days of emergence, so it is good to have other characters to use. warm yellow color, check; skinny black stripes, check. Also, Western Tiger is extremely unlikely in the bosque. Western is a mountain bug and the bosque is at least 2000 feet too low. Not impossible, but very unlikely.
