Observation notes: Near a floodlight on my deck. At first I was tremendously frustrated about not being able to assign to species, you can do that with birds, darn it. But as I have learned more about moths I have developed a more laid back attitude. It isn't worth killing them to feed my curiosity. If I were a researcher it would be different.

Coordinator notes: Many moths are certainly more of a challenge to identify than birds are. I also like it that there are usually a few new ones showing up each year that I've not seen before.
