Observation notes: Observed flying and alighting several times on dry grass stalks. Reviewer Steve Cary noticed that one of my photos captured oviposition on a grass leaf. Apparently this is the first time that has been photographed. The caterpillar foodplant(s) has heretofore been unknown. We are attempting to identify the species of grass in question. We returned to the site two days later with Steve who was able to find the egg that was laid by the individual I photographed. It had been placed approx. 8 inches above the ground on the grass leaf. The roughly 30% slope in juniper grassland habitat is west facing.
