Tropical Least Skipper
Ancyloxypha arene

Observation date: June 05, 2022
Submitted by: jamesvonloh
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Skipper using twigs to display and also warm in the sun, the site is on the bank of the Rio Grande. These skippers and other butterflies have become congregated along the riverbanks because water released from storage reservoirs/dams has filled the channel bank full thus eliminating low-flow channel habitats previously preferred by the skippers. The morning was warm, under bright sun, and with light breeze.
