Observation notes: Individual swallowtail taking nutrients from moist soil around a small pool in a drainage along Pine Tree Trail near Aguirre Springs Campground, Organ Mountains. It fluttered its wings constantly through the period of photography making it difficult to bring into focus. Riparian trees established here include velvet ash, cottonwood, western hackberry, and oak. The morning was characterized by light wind, warm temperature, and bright sunlight.
