Observation notes: Individual queen perched and taking nectar/nutrients from coyote willow catkins emerging from tall shrubs ~6-8m tall. The willows have become established on the Rio Grande east bank and queens have been observed along the river for 2-3 weeks. The afternoon was cool, under full sun, and with N-to-S gusting wind.
