Observation notes: First duskywing of the year! After a bit of chasing, I managed to get close enough to this butterfly for three photos, including these two. I didn't think of Sleepy at all at first since this butterfly seemed average size for a duskywing, rather than small, but after looking at my Glassberg guide Sleepy seems like the best option. The time of year matches for that species as well. It was feeding at various damp areas between boulders along the canyon wash.
