Diamondback Moth
Plutella xylostella

Observation date: October 10, 2021
Submitted by: Bombyx-Aurelia
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I received a cauliflower from our landlord who just returned from buying produce at a local farm. When I rinsed it under tap water, a bunch of little green caterpillars crawled out. I found about five, and one dead pupa. I decided to keep them and raise them which didn't take long. Within the next few days, all of the larvae had become pupae with a "net" around each one. After they emerged as moths, I set them free.
