Observation notes: In the past month, water speedwell has flowered in narrow bands, along the saturated banks of the Rio Grande adjacent to perennial flow of released water. Nectaring from them are light but continuous numbers of Western Pygmy Blues; fewer Reakirt's Blue, Tropical Least Skipper, and Orange Skipperling; and occasional Sleepy Orange, Orange Sulphur, Checkered White, European Cabbage White, and Painted Lady individuals. Afternoon temperature is warm, near 70 degrees F, following cold nights in the 30-40 degree F range. Breeze to light wind is constant.
