Grape Leaffolder Moth
Desmia funeralis

Observation date: November 12, 2021
Submitted by: RW Rockwell
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Attracted to porch light at night, perched on exterior wall within two feet of large Concord grape vine. Sorry the image isn't clearer and, after reading the species notes herein, that I didn't observe the ventral abdomen for white striping configuration. As noted in the species description herein, it appears to be male by its antennae which are widened and bent mid-length. It is worth noting that in 15+ years living here, this is my first sighting of this moth species. Property owner (self/reporter) has a PhD in Entomology - but with expertise in benthic macroinvertebrates not Lepidoptera. Your help's much appreciated! :-)
