Observation date: October 28, 2021
Date notes: 28 or 29 October 2021 - due to confusion with lost data
Submitted by: Janet Ruth
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Not sure what happened in previous submission. Had included with the other photo (thinking it was the same individual as well as species since seen at same place). And THEN somehow the photo got cropped so that most of it didn't show, so I'm resubmitting separately from the other in case it's a different species.

Coordinator notes: Janet, I have educated myself with better criteria for distinguishing Desert C-S from Common/White C-S. AS a result, I have to switch this ID from Desert to Common/White. Here is my analysis: 1) the FW apical white mark is a feeble freckle rather than a firm dot. 2) the FW and HW marginal white marks are all feeble freckles rather than firm white dots. 3) the FW fringe has broad white elements and narrow black elements. 4) the HW median white blotch lacks a blackened transecting vein. this is Common/White all the way. My earlier ID was in error, possibly grievous error, but now it is corrected. My apologies. Thanks for resubmitting this image. presence of a white dot in the FW apex (absent on common/white C-S) and a white patch beyond the white hourglass in the discal cell (also absent on common/white) point to philetas. an underside shot would be best, but I feel OK making this call. Desert C-S is previously known from Luna County, but rarely reported. thanks!
