Date notes: Yes, this was in Canada in early November. The caterpillar would only move, and very slowly at that, when the sun came from behind the clouds. The temperature was 9°C.

Observation notes: As the caterpillar was motionless much of the time, I was able to take several photos at slightly different focal planes and then stack the images for this one for a greater depth of field.
