Coordinator notes: Accepting H.nevadensis but could easily be H. maia as well. BAMONA shows only historical sightings of H. nevadensis (9) and H. maia (1). MPG shows many more sightings of H. maia than H. nevadensis in Michigan. BugGuide doesn't have any records of H. maia in Michigan, and only two of H. nevadensis (one in June and one in September). Per BugGuide, hybrids of the two have been found in Wisconsin and Illinois. Both FG Leps and iNat think H. maia. The Peterson Field Guide to Moths of NE North America doesn't mention H. nevadensis at all (presumably because it's primarily a western species). Submit a sighting to BugGuide and see what they say.
