Observation notes: A typically-warm, mostly-sunny midday in the lawn near the parking lot at Miller's Meadow North Forest Preserve. The two butterflies were feeding on clover flowers, then mating, with one of them carrying the the other as they flew from place to place. They did not (so far as I recall or have photographic record — at least 24 photos) feed while mating. That process continued at least three minutes before I left them. I occasionally see sulphurs along First Ave. just to the west but never have had the chance to photograph them before.
