Observation notes: Reared from Rosa multiflora. The larva was found on 7/10. Entirely linear, upper surface mine. Earlier portions stayed near but didn’t perfectly follow or always abut the leaf margin. Frass deposited in a more or less central fashion in the earliest bit, but becomes liquidy and fills the width of the mine for some distance. Liquidy frass appears greenish yellow, very similar to the color of the larva. For the second half of the completed mine, pellets of frass become discernible, and is mostly strewn across the width of the mine until the very end, where there’s a significant portion of the mine where the frass is again centrally compacted. The larva exited its mine through the upper epidermis on 7/12. Adult was found dead caught in a cobweb in the lid of the container on 8/9.
