Observation notes: Only one or two individuals spotted on the large amount of James' Buckwheat on the face of the road cut; less buckwheat on the south side and no individuals seen. A return visit later in the afternoon had none of the buckwheat blue butterflies.

Coordinator notes: Joe, I don't blame you for thinking this was a buckwheat blue, after all it was on the buckwheat host. but if you look close I think you'll see the VFW lacks the smeared black spots. and the VHW range band is very broad, too broad for Euphilotes. Photo is too small to show the blue scintillae in VHW marginal black spots, but erhaps you have a photo that shows that feature. The badly mis-named Lupine Blue has larvae that eat buckwheats, too, so that's what I'm calling this. Of course it may prove to be Acmon one day . . . but that's a different dilemma. let me know if you disagree . . .
