Green Skipper
Hesperia viridis

Observation date: August 05, 2021
Submitted by: Joshua C
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I think this is a Green Skipper instead of other similar species because of the pattern of white spots on the wings. It makes the shape of a 7 instead of a backwards letter C, like a branded skipper. It was seen in the lower part of the canyon, which has lots of bushes and chollas.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: right you are. another contender would be Pahaska, but the pattern of white spots usually sets them apart. Another clue, Green skipper likes drainage bottoms while Pahaska likes hilltops.
