Submitted by: twofried
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Blue/gray eyes. Silver spots edged with black. Not sure how to separate Northwestern from Southwestern.

Verified date: July 31, 2021
Coordinator notes: thanks for the variety of angles, Bob. This fritillary knows what it is. BAMONA (old fashioned) calls it Northwestern (Speyeria hesperis electa), but I (following latest taxonomic understanding) call it Southwestern (Argynnis nausicaa electa). Please forgive us while we transition awkwardly, erratically toward a new taxonomic reality. It may take years.
Checklist region(s): United States, New Mexico, Taos County
