Date notes: This butterfly was first seen an photographed on 17Jul2021 by Lorie Kaczmarek. I saw the butterfly with her and her daughter and husband on 18Jul2021. I am submitting this report for her, also. JWT

Observation notes: This slow-moving, large, graceful butterfly perched on blackberry brambles and on a nectarine tree; however, its main focus was on the grapes in a rotting fruit pile which it shared with various insects.

Coordinator notes: Just a fantastic record; PROWERS COUNTY record (now I have to add that to my book text). You don't see these very often...only the fourth of three other I can verify records. A rarity in Colorado. Likes grapes...they might have been fermenting somewhat I expect. Doesn't it look happy? Great photos (Janeal or Lorie?). This is a female too...looks like she has eggs...maybe lay them on nearby willow? Mike
