Observation notes: Found in an open meadow, near Cloudcroft, New Mexico, dominated by "musk" thistle plants in full bloom. Approx. elevation 8,300'.

Coordinator notes: musk thistles sure pull them in. this butterfly is in the midst of taxonomic revision. Atlantis and Northwestern have been parsed out and the race in the Sacramentos - capitanensis - has been assigned to Northwestern for a few years now. Old guides may still show it as Atlantis. and further taxonomic turmoil lies ahead . . .
