Beautiful Wood-nymph
Eudryas grata

Observation date: July 04, 2021
Submitted by: DJ Jones
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moth was resting on my vehicle, below the driver side door handle. It looked like bird poop, however after looking closely I realized that it was really a moth. We observed him and took a couple of pictures until he flew away. We were close to a field which has a lot of wildlife. Just south of a golf course. It was a sunny day, about 80°, dry and expected to be in the 80s for the next few days. We were about quarter mile from the shoreline of Lake Michigan, in Manistee, Michigan.
