Observation notes: I saw this butterfly flying around my yard and eventually landing on my zinnia plant on my back deck. It was 89° out and very sunny. I think it might be a female as it has quite a bit of blue and orange on the hind wings but I am not positive. I live in a Ponderosa pine tree wooded area where it is quite dry. I have seen a lot of swallowtails this summer, both western tigers and two tailed.
