Russet Skipperling
Piruna pirus

Observation date: July 02, 2021
Submitted by: DeepSkyKelly
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I wasn’t able to get a photo of the underwings, but in flight they appeared very orange. My first guess is a Russet Skipperling: the range is correct, the wing’s underside is fairly orange, and it spread its wings wide when resting. On the other hand, this has more spots and a lighter fringe. I am pretty stumped.
