Observation notes: A quick observation when the butterfly briefly landed a few feet away in the middle of a hiking trail. Trail is located near the Lembert Dome picnic area on the east side of Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. Quick glimpse in flight, but no photo, of upper wings, which appeared bright orange.

Coordinator notes: I suppose we may meet at Lembert's Dome on July 26th for the Yosemite Butterfly Count. No problem not having an upperside view on this one. Subspecies lapidicola.-Ken Davenport
