Northern Azure
Celastrina lucia

Observation date: June 20, 2021
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Only managed to get the one photo, and realize it's not a great angle. When flying its upperside was a blueish color; on the ground per photo its underside seemed mostly white/gray-white, almost moth-like in coloration and pattern - ie not very distinct. Maybe it's just very worn, though.

Coordinator notes: A Spring Azure just about to run out of springtime...Shasta blues above timberline in rocky-dry sun exposed places (ridges) where its host clover - cushion plant (grows in round clumps) is found (flies in late June through August). Lower altitude Shasta Blue is harder to find, best place is perhaps in North Park - north and west of the Walden area (flies in mid-late June-early July there). Mike
