Maple-basswood Leafroller Moth
Cenopis pettitana

Observation date: June 15, 2021
Submitted by: Cardinal52
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This individual was found on a maple leaf on the forest floor. Its front legs were yellowish and the eyes had some pigmentation, but from above it was pure white. It was not active when I picked it up during the afternoon and only took a few steps on the leaf when I disturbed it. Then I could see it had laid a single white egg on the maple leaf which was about as big as one of its compound eyes.
