Dreamy Duskywing
Erynnis icelus

Observation date: June 15, 2021
Submitted by: Cactuswren1976
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Nectaring on Chokecherry in sunny, open spot along the trail in mixed conifer (mostly Ponderosa Pine) forest. The hind wings seem to show that it was attacked by a bird.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Rene, I learned more this year about distinguishing brizo from icelus. This has the following icelus features: longish palps; broad silver wash inward of DFW postmedian chain of black-edged spots; and abdominal segments are edged lightly with gray.
