Observation date: May 24, 2021
Submitted by: tirvine2020
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Reared from Ulmus laevis. Many orange leaftiers (assumingly the same species for the most part, collected multiple that looked identical because they all dropped from the same tree) were found frequently dropping on lines of silk to the ground for a few days, 5/9 being the around the beginning of this period. This one was collected on 5/9. Larvae may have fed either on developing leaves or seeds, this part is unknown. Length of the caterpillar was 8.9mm the day before it pupated. Pupated by tying debris together (one tied some seeds together, others tied some leaves together) on 5/10. Eclosed today 5/24.
