Pink-striped oakworm moth
Anisota virginiensis

Observation date: May 23, 2021
Submitted by: rpanetta
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I think the moth had just pupated. It was clinging to a piece of grass and didn't let go or move while I carried the grass to the front porch to get my camera. It expelled a milky substance on the porch and flew off just as I finished taking pictures. Warmest day of the year so far at 89 degrees.
