Observation notes: Observed in a mostly brushy area in the bottom of Fillmore Canyon in the Organ Mountains. It was feeding on the tiny flowers of fuzzy forget-me-nots within a small spot of open ground next to a trail. The day was sunny and unusually warm. There was not much wind.

Coordinator notes: Marta, thanks so much for taking and submitting your photo. Southwestern and Desert orangetips both occur in the Organs and are hard to separate because each can be white or pale yellow. I always have to consult the field guides and double-check my conclusions. The key diagnostic marks are in and around the orange tip, different for males vs females. Your pic matches southwestern female. thanks for your detailed comments, too, very important.
