Observation notes: Attracted to MV lamp / blacklight set up on margin of deciduous woods dominated by oak, hickory, walnut and tulip poplar. Forewing length of approx 19 mm. Apparent body length of 22 mm.

Coordinator notes: dissection, should be considered tentative, at best. The maculation of X. c-nigrum is identical to X. dolosa. The best way to separate the two species is by size. X. c-nigrum averages 6 mm (fore wing apex to apex) smaller than X. dolosa.
