Edwards' Fritillary
Speyeria edwardsii

Observation date: June 08, 2015
Submitted by: COA1955
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Hi Mike! This sighting goes back to 6-8-2015 but the frit was not identified when submitted. The ventral forewing pattern looks like the fritillary I submitted recently from 6-1-2020. Can you tell if they are the same type? Thanks for all your help! ~ Char

Coordinator notes: Yes Char....the same but probably looks different because this is a female and the other was a male. In your area on the prairie, you will get only two frit species.....Edwards (Argynnis (Speyeria) edwardsii) and the Regal (Argynnis (Speyeria) idalia) which I think you had a picture of you submitted earlier, if I am remembering correctly? It was a worn male (I'll check my verified sightings). Take care, Mike
