Observation notes: First instar. Newly emerged larvae on Spotted Jewelweed. I have personally seen them breed on at least 2 dozen shrubs, trees and forbes in my garden. Native and non-native. This species is not at all fussy when it comes to a host. Which is why one must always been careful where they put their hands, feet and face when walking around in the yard or woods mid to late summer.
