American Snout
Libytheana carinenta

Observation date: September 30, 2020
Submitted by: theskyeworld
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I was sitting on my patio and started to see dozens of American snout butterflies flying by heading East. Apparently they migrate in large numbers in search of food. The number passing through increased before it got dark. I saw more the following day driving to town. I’ve never seen so many butterflies in my life. Very exciting!!!
