Observation date: June 29, 2012
Submitted by: Roy Cohutta
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was a sunny hot day. Swamp area. I took photos of two individuals of same species within the same general area in Dougherty County, SW Georgia. I am submitting separately for each individual. For each individual there are two photos. Each of the pairs of photos include ventral and dorsal views of the respective individual. First individual photographed starting at 09:35 AM and was on a leaf of a hardwood tree which can be seen in the photo. Second individual (THIS SUBMISSION) photographed starting at 09:50 AM and was on a fern leaf which can be seen in the photo. General notes about identification/differentiation from others in the Genus, which can be seen in the photos (Using Cech & Tudor, Glassberg): Antennal clubs are dark with orange tips (not all orange). Five (5) FW eyespots (see ventral view). Ventral: Dark line just inside FW eyespots has shape of knuckles on a clenched fist. (This is usually the single most reliable wing marking.)
