Northern White-Skipper
Heliopetes ericetorum

Observation date: September 11, 2020
Submitted by: Zencoyote
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found hanging out in a concrete-lined drainage ditch, lined with overhanging scrub. Large enough to be superficially mistaken for some Whites, but appeared to be more tan-colored in flight. It's a fast flier, but tends to fly in shorter hops, and stays close to the environment it prefers. Likes to rest with open wings. This area seems attractive to a number of smaller species, but today nothing else was flying there. High overcast noted today, warm but not hot.
