Observation notes: Heavy rains previous afternoon. Weather was overcast. Found on small broken tree trunk at Mongaup Pond Campground. It appears the caterpillar was climbing the tree stump to begin pupa stage. We had placed into a jar for observation and it attached itself to the top and spun a silk over itself. This occurred within 48 hours of placing it into the jar.
