Observation notes: Or is it Appalachia Brown? Based on other websites of butterflies in CT, the Eyed brown seemed more likely. I believe this is a female, a bit worn with jagged edges on her wings. Habitat is mixed woods with close by open space and wetlands. She was hopping from one plant to another, photographed on a large hydrangea. A sunny, warm day, light breeze.
