Callippe Fritillary
Speyeria callippe

Observation date: July 25, 2020
Submitted by: ezeemonee
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Caught and released this very small Fritillary at the summit of Tehachapi Mountain. (about the size of a quarter with wings folded) Elevation ~8000 ft. Several of these were flying around a forest opening where it looks like Viola Pinetorum ssp. Grisea host plants are growing. Not sure if these are dwarf S. Callippe Macaria or if there’s any chance these are the elusive Tehachapi Silverspots (S. Egleis Tehachapina)?
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: The fact it has silver spots proves it is NOT tehachapina...which is unsilvered!-Ken Davenport
