Coordinator notes: The Northwestern Fritillary that I also call the Western Red-disc Fritillary. The disc on the underside of the hindwing is always reddish in this species; also the spots are often a bit elongated. The other species you can see in the same area is Atlantis on which the hindwing disc is chocolate (brownish toned) to darker (nearly black sometimes) and the spot are rounder. Another could be Aphrodite which looks much like the NW except the eyes are brown and not grayish as your picture clearly shows. Mike
