Observation notes: Seen perching and flying close to the ground in an inter-suburban wild area, among several other species in a mostly unvegetated patch separating a minor riparian community from more dry grassy to sagebrush. Sat for a longer period flexing its wings between closed and about 15 degrees open. Very small, and initially I thought it was a Pigmy Blue, which I see quite regularly in the area. But the wing pattern is very different, and it was just a bit larger, more intermediate between a Pigmy and a Marine Blue. The orange wing band was distinctive.
