St. Lawrence Tiger Moth
Platarctia parthenos

Observation date: July 03, 2020
Submitted by: keelylopez
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: There were two moths, one on each side of the leaf. They did not move at all, and these are the only photos I have of the one. (You can just barely see the wings of the second moth on the underside of the leaf in one of the photos.) They were adjacent to a very brushy trail in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area of Washington State. Clear, sunny day. Area was thick with plants like thimbleberry.
